Cultural exchange programs are a priority for Rotary clubs around the world.  Rotarians believe that immersion by young people in other cultures  will generate goodwill, understanding and peace in the world.

Freeport is a wonderful place for an exchange student.  Our community has embraced many exchange students over the years from Japan, Argentina, Turkey, and many other places across the globe.

Youth exchange only works with the generosity and commitment of host families in Freeport.  Host families open their homes to a young person from another country.  It is an incredible learning experience for both the student and the host family.

All host families are screened, interviewed, selected, and supported by members of the Freeport Rotary Club.  As a host family, you will be in close contact with members of the local Rotary club throughout the experience.

While students are in Freeport for a school year, families host a student for 3-6 months.   We believe that it is beneficial to the student to have two or three families to experience and it is less of a burden on the host family.

If you are interested in being a host family, please read the Guide for Host Families (see link at left).
